The dynamic contemporary classical music group, The Klank Collective, present an exciting program of new and old music inspired by their experiences of living and making music in the Netherlands. This ensemble redefines chamber music through their virtuosity and theatrical flair, creating a bold new sound palette arising from the combination of soprano Natsuko Mineghishi, flautist Kathryn Moorhead and trombonist John Gluyas. The performances will include works by the early baroque composer Sweelinck, Berio’s theatrical sequenza for trombone, a work inspired by nursery rhyme music-boxes by Australian composer Martin Wesley Smith, Vermont Counterpoint by minimalist Steve Reich, and even a miniature opera! The program will appeal to audiences interested in contemporary classical music and adventurous programming in chamber music. The members of the Klank Collective are exciting young performers of the highest level. Soprano Natsuko Mineghishi holds a Master of Music Degree from the Amsterdam Conservatory, She has a strong passion for theatrical pieces and the contemporary repertoires of Japanese Art Song. She also holds 2nd Dan in the Shotokan Karate-do International. Flautist Kathryn Moorhead has performed with the majority of Australia’s Symphony Orchestras and has played in International Arts Festivals in Melbourne, Adelaide, Aberdeen, and the UK. Her CD of Australian contemporary music has received rave reviews and international airplay. John Gluyas is a graduate of the Rotterdam Conservatory trombone class. John has performed with the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony, the Todd McKenny Show Band and the Amsterdam International Opera. His concerto performances have been broadcast on ABC Classic FM. Stay tuned for 2007 concerts!
